About

This site is a place to share memories, rewrite history, settle old bets and confuse the younger generations about what exactly was going on in the forties and fifties in Cuba. It was started as an email thread by José Linde with the following prescient/paranoid comment:

OK, You’ll think I’m crazy but one of my on-going phobias is that one day when I’m not around anymore, 100 years or so from now, those that come after me may not know from where I came; so that nobody blames me later on for not letting you guys know, I’m attaching the map and directions. The ball is now on your court. Make sure you pass it on.

Love, Dad.

After that followed many many stories and quite a few amazing photos that we wanted to archive for posterity. We put some effort into setting the post times for the articles so they would match the original emails and so the site should work chronologically (more or less). Email’s from the group were posted as blog entries and replies to the posts as comments, so we definitely suggest checking out the comments for the articles because they’re generally pretty entertaining.

also, this site was not meant to be a snapshot of late night ramblings — please feel free to contribute and taking this wherever you’d like it to go !
